I Set Up My Nursery Corner Without Spending a Fortune—And This One Thing Made All the Difference

When I found out I was pregnant, I did what every new mum does—panicked, Googled everything, and made at least three Pinterest boards by midnight.

I wasn’t planning on going all-in with a fancy nursery, especially since our flat isn’t exactly Buckingham Palace. But I still wanted a cosy little corner where I could feed, cuddle, and maybe—just maybe—get some rest.

So I started with the basics: a cot, some storage, a blackout blind. But the real game-changer? A proper nursing chair.

I know what you’re thinking. Do I really need one? That’s exactly what I thought too. But honestly, after the fourth 3 a.m. feed with a dead arm and a cricked neck from the sofa, I was desperate. A friend sent me this guide about breastfeeding nursery chairs, and I decided to take the plunge.

It wasn’t some overpriced mumfluencer thing—it was actually affordable and looked amazing. The chair I ended up with had a low back (surprisingly comfier than you'd think), a smooth rocking motion, and a cushion that somehow doubled as a bottle holder when I needed both hands.

Here’s what I learned:

1. Feeding chairs aren’t just for feeding.
I use mine for story time, skin-to-skin cuddles, late-night emails, and crying while eating toast. It’s become the heart of the nursery.

2. Looks matter.
Ours blends in with the rest of the room. It’s not some clunky “mum thing.” I’ve had mates over who asked where I got it, assuming it was designer.

3. Your back will thank you.
Six feeds a day in a dining chair? Forget it. Your spine deserves better.

And if you're on the fence: just know it’s not about being fancy. It’s about making the hard moments a bit easier.

You deserve comfort too, mum.
